The Vineyards are on average 30 years old. Their roots grow deep into the subsoil made of Limestone, Marl and some Clay.
As the vines grow deeper and work harder to get their nutrients the end results are found in wines that show a lot of character and complexity.
The Hill of Corton rises around 800 feet between the two villages of Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton. It detaches itself from the rest of the landscape and you cannot miss its majestic stature when you drive by.
The Hill of Corton produces the only grand crus reds of the Cotes de Beaune.
With a beautiful complexity this great vintage all roundness and finesse of indisputable femininity is characterized by aromas of liquorice and ripe cherry.
The “big Lord of the hill” as it is sometimes referred to. This grand cru will surprise you with aromas of leather, fur and underbrush. On the palate you will notice truffle and licorice. Its integrated tannins give the wine its body, length and power.
It is the wine ‘par excellence’ with red meats cooked in a sauce, wild game such as boar. It is the wine of the hunt’s man!
Be patient and wait a good couple of years before you can ever consider opening your first bottle.
This wine has aromas of underbrush and tobacco leaves. On the palate you recognize the small fruits and cherry plus a touch of pepper. It has refined tannins, supple and well integrated.
You can enjoy it with roasted meats such as pork and lamb as well as with poultry.

Its robe is a dark ruby with hues of bleu. Its aromas open up with violets and the taste is more on the strawberries and raspberries.
It can be enjoyed in its youth with barbecued grilled meats, charcuterie and vegetarian dishes.
In its youth this superb grand cru white shows a light golden color, as it ages its robe becomes more amber.
Aromas of linden flower, apple and fresh almond turn cooked apple and grilled toast as the wine will age.
Flavors of exotic fruits, pineapple, mango and lychees transform themselves with time into buttered notes and truffles.
It has long, very long staying power on the palate.
Enjoy it with fish, lobster, and scallops, white meat or just by itself with some hard cheeses and almonds.
If you like a wine with a big structure you can drink it in the next 3 to 5 years. If you prefer more complexity and refinement wait a good 10 years before opening your bottle.
Its light robe will become golden with some age. The aromas of white flowers –hawthorn and acacia- develop into honey and spices with a little bit of age.
It is a wine that can be drunk young to enjoy its flavors of citrus fruit with a pinch of mint.

This wine is very rare and much thought after. There are 295 acres of Aloxe-Corton red appellation and only 2.1/2 acre of white Aloxe-Corton. Our Domain has the chance to be one of the 4 producers to own a parcel of this great white wine.
Our Aloxe-Corton white has aromas of orange blossoms and cinnamon. Its texture is creamy and unctuous but remains fresh and pure with notes of mango and apricot on the palate.
You will enjoy it with fish, crab but also with white meats.

As a legend would have it is Charles Le Grand otherwise named Emperor Charlemagne who decided to have white wines planted instead of the reds already existing, so he would not stain his pearly beard. …However no picture has ever showed The Emperor with a white beard., instead he had a dark mustache…well with time it must have turned white….never the less one of the most prestigious white wine of the world was born…the CORTON CHARLEMAGNE!
