The Voarick Family - Past & Present
Three generations of the Voarick family have been involved in the development of the vineyards known today as Domaine Michel Voarick.

Vintner in a village of Saone and Loire to the south of Beaune, Pierre Voarick and his wife Louise acquired a reputation of hard work and good wine making.

In 1924 the administration of the Hospices de Beaune gave him the responsibility of the famed Corton Grand Cru, Cuvee Docteur Peste.

Pierre and his wife, Louise, came to live with their family in the village of Aloxe-Corton

His salary from the Hospices de Beaune allowed him to buy his house with a plot of Corton within the walls of his property.  Some time later he also purchased a parcel of land in Aloxe-Corton

Pierre Voarick

Pierre’s son Michel Voarick (born in 1924) followed in his father’s foots steps and took over his father’s responsibilities at the Hospices de Beaune and became the head of the family’s Domain in 1946.

His wife Odette (1925 - 1991) took a big part in the logistics of running the Domaine and was instrumental in making the Domaine’s label.

  • Thru the years, Michel added new plots of vineyards: Corton-Clos-du- Roi, Corton-Languettes, Corton-Renardes and in the 70ies Corton-Charlemagne.
  • Michel Voarick has always been quite involved with the life of the village of Aloxe-Corton. He was a council-man for many years and more recently its mayor for 14 years. It is in this capacity that he greatly participated in the destiny of his village.

Jean-Marc Voarick

Now it is Michel’s son Jean-Marc Voarick (born in 1948) who runs the day to day activities at the Domaine.

  • He has enlarged the Domaine with plots of Corton-Renardes and Corton-Charlemagne and did numerous replanting in the Aloxe-Corton and Pernand-Vergelesses appellations.
  • Further more he has renovated parts of the winery that needed attention.
  • Jean-Marc has learned form his predecessors and he has a clear idea of where he wants to take the Domaine and the kind of wines he wants to produce.
The Domaine remains small with its parcels in the best appellations and his wines are a clear expression of their respective terroirs.

Jean-Marc’s wife Ghislaine  has come to the life of the Domaine at a later date (1995) and it is with heart and enthusiasm that she involved herself with the sales of the Domaine’s wines at the tasting cellar.

She has 2 grown children , Alfred and Juliette who are already in college and Victor. Alfred lends a hand in the vineyards thru out the year while Juliette joins in during harvest time.

Victor Voarick

Jean-Marc and Ghislaine’s son Victor Voarick (born in 1996) seems to be poised to be the next wine maker at the Domaine! His parents are teaching him their love and respect for the vineyards but before he can take over he may have to renounce his primary ambition that is to deliver pizza….!

Michel’s daughter Aleth Voarick Tournier (born in 1949) participates also in the life of the Domaine by promoting its wines in the U.S. where she resides since 1971.

However the distance between her residence in Florida and the Domaine, she has not missed a Harvest! She coordinates the logistics of room and board for the 40 people who come each year at time of harvest.

She has a fine palate which she trained at a young age at the Domaine and later on wines from around the world.

Aleth’s husband,

Born of French parents in N.Y.C Paul speaks fluent French.

He visited frequently during harvest time and started as a cutter. He is now the foreman of the harvest!

Since his early retirement he has helped Aleth in the promotion of the Domaine’s wines in the U.S.
